Scope and definitions

Head coach list: taken from the “Personnel / Personnel and kits” tables of the English Wikipedia 2026-27 season articles for the five leagues, including in-season changes (Valencia, for example, is managed by a caretaker).
Playing position: the position field of each coach’s Wikipedia infobox; “Non-professional” means no professional playing career is recorded.
Domestic league titles: top-flight national league championships only (including former top divisions such as the old English First Division or the Scottish Premier Division). Second tiers, domestic cups, super cups and youth honours are excluded.
UEFA Champions League / European Cup: European Cup and UEFA Champions League titles won as a player.
Other continental club trophies: UEFA Cup / Europa League, Cup Winners’ Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Conference League, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, Recopa Sudamericana, and similar continental club competitions.
Intercontinental Cup / Club World Cup: Intercontinental Cup (and its Toyota Cup era) and the FIFA Club World Cup.
FIFA World Cup: counted only when won as a player (not as head coach or assistant coach).
Total = domestic league titles + UEFA Champions League + other continental club trophies + Intercontinental Cup / Club World Cup + FIFA World Cup.

Data sources and manual verification

Player-era honours were scraped from the “Honours → Player” sections of English Wikipedia; runners-up and third-place finishes and individual awards (e.g. FIFA World Cup All-Star Team, Team of the Tournament) were excluded.
Club and coach names follow English Wikipedia; Chinese names used in the earlier Chinese edition of this report were taken from Wikidata labels.
Manually supplemented: Mauro Lustrinelli (Union Berlin) — 2006-07 Czech First League title with Sparta Prague (German Wikipedia); Ivan Jurić (Monza) — 1994-95 Croatian First League title with Hajduk Split (Croatian Wikipedia).
Manually verified: Álvaro Arbeloa, Daniele De Rossi and Ignazio Abate — their honours lists have no player/manager split, and every entry was confirmed to be a player-era honour. José Mourinho’s league titles in his honours list were all won as assistant or head coach, so he counts 0 as a player.
Wikipedia honours sections may be incomplete for coaches whose playing careers were spent in lower divisions; such cases are counted as 0 and flagged in the Notes column.
