Incorrect Publication Volume Data for Artium Quaestiones in OpenAlex
A recent investigation indicates that Artium Quaestiones has an abnormally high publication volume in both 2019 and 2026. OpenAlex data show that the journal published approximately 1,583 articles in 2026 and 2,579 articles in 2019, whereas in other years it published an average of only a few dozen articles per year.
However, after a closer examination of the articles' DOIs, the 5GH Team has found that these figures are incorrect. Of the 1,583 articles listed in OpenAlex for 2026, most have DOIs (10.11588/diglit.*) that belong to Heidelberg University's digitization platform rather than to the journal (10.14746/aq.*). The same pattern is observed in the articles listed for 2019.
It remains unknown why this error occurs.
