Potential Author-Editor Conflict of Interest on 10.1002/gj.5051

Concern is raised regarding the potential author-editor conflict of interest on the article [1], which was coauthored by Yunpeng Dong (董云鹏, Northwest University, China), the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of "Geological Journal", and was handled by Bo Hui (惠博, Northwest University, China), a former student of Dong.

The journal "Geological Journal" has two EiCs, and it remains unclear whether Dong supervised the assignment of the handling editor, or the other EiC did. Nevertheless, Dong should be aware that his student was handling the manuscript. It seems he decided offer a green light to it, although as an EiC, he could prevented it. This raises concerns whether Dong complied with the Wiley's policies for an EiC.
