Editor-Author Conflict of Interest on 10.1371/journal.pone.0316942


Recent investigation suggests that the handling editor of the article [1] did not disclose his conflict of interest with the author.

The article was co-authored by Dongyeop Kim, Moo-Seok Park, Ju-young Park, and Tae-Jin Song, and was handled by the editor Dong Keon Yon. Investigation finds that Song and Yon co-authored on several article [2-5] within the past 3 years. This may be violation against the policy of the publisher PLoS.

An Investigation by the 5GH Team reveals that the articles published on the Special Issue "Geomicrobiology: Latest Advances and Prospects" have high proportions of references to Cesareo Saiz-Jimenez, one of the special issue's guest editors, suggesting potential misconduct by Saiz-Jimenez to promote his citations with his editorial role on the special issue.
